Man drives while intoxicated, kills 4 in serious car crash

If you or a loved one are hurt in a car accident, it's important that an investigation is completed. Most of the time, finding the person at fault is straightforward, so you can make a claim and be compensated fairly. In other cases, your crash may be so devastating that you not only have to work through your claim but also a court case determining the fate of the driver in question. While criminal proceedings can be extensive and drawn out, this is one way you can resolve your feelings against the person at fault for your loved one's injury or death and feel that you've been able to attain justice for the loss.

A man whose drunk driving resulted in the deaths of three children and their grandfather has spoken out about the incident during his court trial. He now says he's tortured with grief over the incident; the 29-year-old man spoke at his sentencing, but the parents of the children had already left the room and refused to hear what he had to say.

According to the news, the Crown has asked for the man to serve 10 to 12 years in prison for the four counts of impaired driving causing death. The man had been driving at 85 km/h when he ran a stop sign in his SUV. That's when he collided with the minivan holding the family. Only the children's grandmother and great-grandmother survived the accident.

The Crown has said that the man is at a low risk to reoffend but still asks to take away the man's license for eight to 12 years.

The family may consider filing a lawsuit against this man in order to seek justice for the horrific tragedy they have had to endure.
